Family Foraging [Join a Group]

Family Foraging [Join a Group]

  • Lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

A playful, wonder-filled introduction to foraging for curious minds of all ages. This hands-on experience invites children and adults alike to explore the land together, building confidence in noticing, identifying, and connecting with wild plants in a safe and accessible way.

Did you know that some plants have been here for so long that they would have been eaten by dinosaurs? And that there is a type of mushroom that allows you to leave a secret message?! Together, we’ll explore how to observe key edible and useful plants and engage creatively with the landscape through simple sensory activities, helping deepen observation and memory.

Through drawing, mark-making, and playful observation, families will create their own nature field notes. You’ll make rubbings, gather visual impressions, and begin to build a shared language of noticing and wonder.

You will:

  • Slow down, engage the senses, and rediscover the landscape together
  • Learn safe, introductory foraging skills for a variety of common wild plants
  • Explore simple sensory and observational exercises
  • Take part in light creative activities to help identify and remember plants
  • Leave with greater confidence in noticing and engaging with the natural world
